Psst! Want a sneak preview of A Stitch in Time 2?

I’ll bet you do! This is what I’m talking about, if you’re not sure: A Stitch in Time: Vintage Knitting Patterns, 1930-1959 volume 2, by Susan Crawford and Jane Waller, which is being published by the company that I work for, Arbour House Publishing which is owned by Susan and Gavin Crawford.

Last month I travelled upcountry for one of the photoshoots for the book, and worked as the wardrobe mistress for the day. I really enjoyed my role, not least because it was an organisational part of the day (and I do love to get things in shape). It was at once creative, hard work and great fun, and it was lovely to see the outfits come together and the garments come to life with the addition of vintage period hair and make up.
We were lucky enough to have a film student, Scott Willis videoing us behind the scenes. Scott is one of Susan’s daughter, Charlie’s friends from university where they are both studying film. To be honest, at first it was a strange feeling, having the day documented on film. It was a very busy day though and with Scott filming quietly in the background, we soon all lost our inhibitions and were acting naturally again. He got some really wonderful footage and has since spent lots of time editing it down into this fabulous film, below. It gives a real sense of both the photoshoot and of the forthcoming book.
