Cloth and Memory {2} Exhibition

The windowless shed camera obscura by Hannah Leighton-Boyce

My good friend from art school, Hannah Leighton-Boyce has some beautiful pieces of work on show as part of Cloth and Memory {2}, a site specific exhibition at Salt’s Mill in Saltaire this autumn. She’s exhibiting alongside 23 other artists, both UK based and from abroad, in this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Hannah learned to spin yarn for one of the pieces that she made. ‘The Last Yarn’ was made using the found remains of dyed and raw alpaca, cotton and wool fibre that she found within the walls of the spinning room at Salt’s Mill while she was measuring up for the installation her other piece – ‘The Windowless Shed Camera Obscura.’

Mary Stark made this short film, below, about Hannah’s seven days of spinning.

Cloth and Memory [2] runs from August 18th to November 3rd 2013.
