A Candle of Yarn, a Garden of New and a Yearning for a Jumper

I was sent an excellent gift this week, for my birthday and I just had to show you because I think you’ll all want one. A lovely friend of mine sent me a yarn candle, which I believe came from Loop in London. I can tell you now that I’ll never burn it…

I went out into the garden to take a photograph of the candle as you can see, and whilst out there had a check around to see if anything was coming up from the myriad of seeds that I planted over the past couple of weeks. To my amazement there are already baby cabbages and beets just peeping through the soil. This is ace! I love seeing things grow.

You might have picked up on the fact that we have recently moved house, and we now have instead of just a small roof terrace, an actual garden. We have just begun its transition from ‘mostly lawn’ to its additional duties as provider of veggies, fruit and cut flowers. There are a few things in bloom already and we brought some pots with bulbs and onions from the flat too. It’s quite exciting seeing what all of the existing plants are and when they’ll come out. I don’t know if it was all the excitement of growing things; starting afresh, but I came back in with a great desire to cast on The Rose Jumper from A Stitch in Time. I was drafting a blog post about it for the knitonthenet blog earlier this morning, but with no real wish to knit one for myself until now. Since returning indoors, I have been stash-raiding and have knitted up a tension square to boot.

Although there’s no way that I can cast on yet another thing to knit just yet (check out the Ravelry widget on the right and add three secret book projects to the total), but it is oh, so tempting…
